The V&A has opened their new Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art. The first redesign of the space in 50 years, it has taken three years work to complete. During this time many of the museum's Islamic objects have been on a long world tour - showing from Sheffield to the States. Now they are back and open to London visitors once more. The centrepiece is the vast Ardabil carpet, which is being properly shown on the floor of the gallery for the first time. The museum is also showing far more objects than it has done before - stretching from the roots of Islamic art in Iran and the Eastern Roman empire to highly colourful fabrics from 19th century Turkey.
